Official technical inspections were carried out by FIS race directors Atle Skaardal and Markus Waldner as preparations ramp up.

They were assisted by their technical team, while St Moritz 2017's sport management team, host broadcaster SRG-DRS and the Longines data and timing service were also all present during the inspection.

The group examined both the men’s and women’s courses during the day, before looking at the organisational plans for the event.

Skaardal expressed his confidence that St Moritz will prove a successful host for the forthcoming Championships, which are due to take place from February 6 to 19.

"St Moritz is one of our traditional stops for ladies on the World Cup tour and we look forward to taking the next step with the upcoming World Championships," he said.

Waldner added: "Last year was our first taste of the venue here in St Moritz and the men’s athletes gave the venue rave reviews.

"We look forward to February for the races on these challenging courses."

Coordination group meetings took place across two days, with organisers and FIS officials joined by members of Swiss Ski, the European Broadcast Union and their commercial partner Tridem.

Representatives from the next hosts of the World Championships, Are in Sweden in 2019 and Cortina in Italy in 2021, were also present.

The latter was only awarded the 2021 edition in June, following unsuccessful bids for the 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 Championships, at the FIS Congress in Cancun in Mexico.

Both future hosts took part in the meeting as a result of the FIS’ transfer of knowledge programme to aid future venues.

A final tour of the facilities also took place with the finish area and press centre among the areas assessed, while a countdown clock was unveiled in the Swiss resort.

"The organisers have done an excellent job preparing every element for the World Championship," said Gian Franco Kasper, FIS President and a native of St Moritz.

"For me, it is naturally a special two weeks as my hometown will host the world and it is particularly satisfying to see how the entire town and region are involved and supporting the Championships."

The Championships are due to begin on February 6 with an Opening Ceremony in the town centre, while side events are also scheduled to take place.
