This was announced by OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah at today's General Assembly here.

A specific date has yet to be confirmed.

But it will take place ahead of or during the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan's capital city from from September 15 to 24 next year.

Ashgabat also played host to the 2015 General Assembly.

All 45 Asian National Olympic Committee and 17 from Oceania are due to compete at next year's Games in a special collaboration between the two continents.

A total of 13 new venues are being developed for the Games, it was announced in an presentation from Ashgabat 2017 here today.

This includes a "state-of-the-art 45,000 seat capacity stadium in which Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held.

A Chef de Mission Seminar for team leaders is due to take place from ‪March 17 to 19 next year.

The opening of a new international airport in Ashgabat was recently attended by Sheikh Ahmad.

The new airport, featuring a highly unusual terminal design in the shape of a Turkmen bird, will be the largest airport in Central Asia.

It is expected to serve 14 million passengers per year and have the capacity to handle 1,600 passengers per hour. 

The airport will be one of the many "positive legacies" of Turkmenistan hosting the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, an OCA statement proclaimed, guaranteeing a "more positive future for the city and the country long after the Games".
