Cuba's Dalidaivis Rodriguez won a second consecutive judo Paralympic gold medal in the women's under 63 kilogram category after she beat Ukrainian Iryna Husieva in the final at the Carioca Arena 3 in Rio de Janeiro.

Rodriguez, winner of the same event at London 2012, beat Husieva with an ippon.

Husieva had beaten Rodriguez the last time they met in the 2014 World Championships.

The bronze medals in the women's under 63kg competition were won by Uzbekistan's Tursunpashsha Nurmetova and South Korea's Songlee Jin as they both also scored ippons to win their respective bouts.

Nurmetova beat Sweden's Nicolina Pernheim whilst Jin saw off Tong Zhou of China.

"I have a good collection of medals now," said Rodriguez.

"I have a very special place in my house where I keep all the prizes I have won.

"I lost to her in and I prepared really hard.

"I wanted to fight her again.

"This is revenge."

Elsewhere in today's competition Ukraine's Inna Cherniak won a gold medal on her Paralympic Games debut in the women's under 57kg.

The 28-year-old silenced the home crowd as she beat Brazil's Lucia da Silva Teixeira Araujo with an ippon.

The bronze medals in the women's under 57kg competition were won by Hana Seo of South Korea and Japan's Junko Hirose.

Seo beat Lijing Wang of China with a single Yuko and Hirose saw off Spain's Maria Monica Merenciano Herrero with an ippon and a yuko.

Elsewhere, in the men's competitions Ramil Gasimov of Azerbaijan also won gold on his Paralympic debut as he was successful in the men's under 73kg category.

The 35-year-old defeated Ukrainian Dmytro Solovey with an ippon and a waza-ari.

The two bronze medals in the men's under 73kg competition were won by Germany's Nikolai Kornhass and Uzbekistan's Feruz Sayidov.

Kornhass beat Aramitsu Kitazono of Japan in just 43 seconds, while an ippo and two yukos were enough for Sayidov to ease past Cuban Gerardo Rodriguez.

"I came here for the gold and I got it," said Gasimov

"My son has a birthday on the 16th [of September] and I promised to win gold, and I kept my word.

"I've been dreaming about this for a very long time. Dreaming about listening to my country's anthem and seeing my flag."

In the fourth and final competition of today's action, the men's under 81kg, Mexico's Eduardo Adrian Avila Sanchez won his third Paralympic medal.

Avila Sanchez won the men's under 71kg competition in Beijing eight years ago before claiming a bronze in the same event at London 2012.

The 30-year-old has, however, moved up to a higher weight class and it appeared to have no effect as he beat South Korea'a Jungmin Lee in the gold medal contest.

The Mexican needed a single yuko to secure victory.

The two bronze medals were won by Ukraine's Oleksandr Kosinov and Azerbaijan's Rovshan Safarov.

Kosinov beat Seyed Omid Nouri Jafari of Iran with an ippon and Safarov overcame Britain's Jonathan Drane with an ippon and two yukos to win his first Paralympic medal.
