Luge Canada have signed deals with two Austrian companies - Garagen City and MassivHaus.

Both arrangements will last for a year with the firms each providing the team's sliders with a $CAD10,000 (£5,800/$7,600/€6,800) cash boost.

Garagen City are a storage company while MassivHaus are in the prefabricated homes industry.

"It is no secret our sport is part of the European culture and we are thrilled to welcome two Austrian-based companies to be a part of our team," said Tim Farstad, executive director of Luge Canada.

The new partnerships build on Luge Canada’s first Austrian partnership which was established with Exito last year.

The patio furniture company, whose logo is on the helmets of all Canadian lugers, signed a deal up until 2020.

Farstad said that the return on investment for the two new partners would be "significant", particularly with Austria hosting next year's International Luge Federation (FIL) World Championships in Igls.

“Our past success proves that we will deliver significant return on these investments along our journey to the podium," he said.

Kimberley McRae was the best performing Canadian luger during the 2015-16 World Cup season, finishing 10th overall in the women's standings.

Alex Gough also earned a bronze medal in the opening women's event in Igls.

Steve Harris was re-elected as President of Luge Canada in July.

He will serve for a further two years.
