Norwegian ski jumper Daniel-André Tande will return to action at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Grand Prix in Hakuba after recovering from injury.

The 22-year-old will compete on the Japanese hill after suffering a stress fracture in his leg last month, which ruled him out of the summer competitions which have been held so far.

He could not jump for six weeks and has undergone strength training as he looks to get back to full fitness for the start of the winter season and the opening International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup events.

Tande was the second Norwegian to suffer injury in the run-up to the new season after Kenneth Gangnes tore his ACL in June.

Both men were members of the Norway squad which won team gold at this year's FIS World Ski Flying Championships in Bad Mitterndorf in Austria.

Tande's best result of the 2015-16 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season came at the very first event, when he topped the podium in Klingenthal in Germany.

He went on to finish seventh overall in the standings, as the third best Norwegian.

Norway's head coach Alexander Stoeckl said that the Hakuba competition between August 26 and 28 would be an important one for his jumpers.

"We use these competitions as some sort of a time-zone training," said the Austrian.

"In Winter we will have World Cups in Sapporo and Pyeongchang, the Olympic Games 2018 will be held in Pyeongchang.

"This week is a good test when it comes to such long trips.

"We are looking forward to the competitions and hope that we will get a confirmation that we are on the right track."
