A process has been opened by the International Blind Sport Federation (IBSA) Judo to select hosts for major events over the next four years.

All member nations are urged to apply, the IBSA Judo Committee have said.

This comes as a process begin to set-up a four-year calendar leading up to the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

At this early stage, the governing want to "measure the potential of countries, which are able and want to arrange high level competitions in this period".

They plan to prepare a long list from the candidates before calling a tender among them together with the IBSA Secretariat. 

Events include the 2018 World Championships as well as continuental events in 2017 across Asia, Europe and the Pan-Americas.

Key criteria for a successful bid include "close collaboration between the able-bodied and blind associations", as well as strong support from Government and local authorities.

Having a proper sport hall which "covers all needs and is not too far from the accommodation", is also key, along with accomodation and other facilities for meetings and weigh-ins

All potential candidates are urged to contact [email protected] and [email protected] by a deadline of June 21, 2016. 

A selection-process would then be set into motion.
