James Carr has been appointed as the head of administration and projects at the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).

He takes up the post after spending two and a half years at the International Cycling Union (UCI), where he worked as their head of international relations.

Carr spent three-years as the legal counsel at British Cycling prior to moving onto his role at the UCI.

“I am really looking forward to starting at ASOIF and working with the 28 member International Federations," Carr told insidethegames.

“I have spent five and a half enjoyable years in cycling, firstly at British Cycling and latterly the International Cycling Union.

“I am now very excited to embark upon a new challenge working with ASOIF's motivated and dedicated team.”

The role will see the Briton supervise various projects undertaken on behalf of ASOIF’s 28 member International Federations, including Olympic Games co-ordination and issue tracking, governance, anti-doping and communications.

He is replacing Tim Goethals, who has departed to to take up a managing director position at Lausanne-based sports consultancy Além Labs.

Carr will also be responsible for overseeing ASOIF's statutory meetings and six consultative groups, as well as the management of the organisation’s administration.

Another key task will be to build and maintain relationships with the member federations, with the organisation seeking to co-ordinate their common interests and goals.

Carr will also look to strength ASOIF’s collaboration with key partners, including the International Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
