Rome 2024 has launched a digital guide on the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The bid team in the Italian capital have joined up with anti-poverty charity ActionAid to work on the project, which is designed to provide students with "useful insights to overcome cultural barriers and embrace the principles of loyalty, sacrifice and courage".

Entitled The Mystery of the Lost Touch, the guide will be rolled out into Rome's schools.

It was presented today to the Kennedy High School in Rome and will be available to all schools who ask for it.

“There is no bullying among those who practice sports, there is no violence, there are no cultural barriers or discrimination, but only people who win together," said Rome 2024 President Luca di Montezemolo.

"This is the spirit that guides us in the Rome 2024 bid.

"And that's why we address schools of all levels."

Rome has often tried to use its bid for the Olympics and Paralympics to engage with youth in Italy.

The new tool is divided into four modules which includes a guide for teachers and workshops with specific activities for each school level.

The Bid Committee and ActionAid will promote a pilot workshop programme in 20 schools in Rome, selected in collaboration with the Regional Education Office.

A larger project could then be introduced if Rome’s bid for the 2024 Games is successful ahead of Budapest, Los Angeles and Paris.

"This project features a united team that is inspired by passion and enthusiasm working on the dream of bringing the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the capital," said bid vice president Luca Pancalli.

ActionAid Italy Secretary General Marco de Ponte added: "ActionAid uses sport in its projects for years, because it promotes positive lifestyles and values and it is a powerful way to trigger the dynamics of change.

"The Rome 2024 project is born to be shared, involving all citizens in an active way with the aim of delivering social Games.

"We thought that the best way to start this journey was from the schools through a history of the Games that we have envisaged in a social perspective, adding to the athletes’ victories also achievements in the matter of human rights."
