China claimed the men's and women's individual titles as the World Trampoline Gymnastics Championships came to a close in the Danish city Odense today.

Gao Lei was the winner in the men's event after a superb routine ended with a total score of 62.245 from the judges.

The champion was the best qualifier from the semi-finals and was followed into the business end of the competition by compatriot Jinyu Xiao, but the latter lost his footing during his final showing and finished seventh out of the eight gymnasts.

Silver went to Belarus' Uladzislau Hancharou who registered 61.740 while Russia's Andrey Yudin did enough for bronze as he managed 61.705.

Earlier, China's double Olympic champion Dong Dong had failed to make the final as only two gymnasts from the same country are allowed to advance from the semi.

Dong was the fourth best in the semi-final but was eliminated as he was not as successful as Lei or Xiao.

In the women's competition, Li Dan took top honours and added to the world title she won in Metz, France, in 2010.

Her total of 56.600 pushed compatriot Liu Lingling into silver with her score of 55.755.

Belarus claimed another individual medal as Tatsiana Piatrenia registered 55.665 for bronze.

Canada's Olympic champion Rosie MacLennan had to settle for a fourth place finish with her score of 55.505 not enough for a medal.

China's Beijing 2008 champion He Wenna was knocked out in the semi-final after coming 22nd.

Meanwhile, in non-Olympic disciplines, American Erin Jauch won the women's double mini trampoline final, ahead of Britain's Jasmin Short and Sweden's Lina Sjoberg respectively.

The men's tumbling gold was won by China's Yang Song, with silver going to Timofei Podust of Russia and China also taking bronze courtesy of  Zhang Kuo.
