Peace and Sport has announced that “Endangered peace: Facing the future together” will be the theme of its upcoming International Forum, due to be held in Monaco from November 25 to 27.

The eighth edition of the Forum, held under the high patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco and which has become a key annual event for peace promoters around the world, will feature around 20 speakers.

Four plenary sessions and three workshops will take place as part of the programme for the event, while the Awards Gala will be staged on November 26, which will reward those who have made a significant contribution to peace through sport.

Other side events, aimed at connecting the diplomatic world and the sport community, will also be held alongside the Forum.

The event will bring together more than 500 leading figures from the international sports movement, the private sector and Non-Governmental Organisations, as well as political leaders and Peace and Sport’s Champions for Peace.

“As the world confronts a growing and multi-faceted migration crisis, it is essential to use sport as a tool to foster cohesion in society, everywhere in the world,” Peace and Sport President and founder Joël Bouzou said.

“Faced with the challenges of these turbulent and uncertain times, Peace and Sport wants to put the focus on action and the potential of sport-based solutions.”

It is hoped the Forum will encourage active discussions about working together to promote peace through sport.

Six of the previous seven editions have been held in Monaco, with Sochi, hosts of the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, hosting the first-ever Forum outside the principality in 2012.

At April's SportAccord Convention in the Russian city, Peace and Sport launched a new virtual forum, aimed at fostering the development of the peace through the sport movement and offering its stakeholders a neutral, relevant and daily digest of the latest news.
