USA Knockouts ended the Regular Season of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Pan American rivals Puerto Rico Hurricanes in Miami.

The aptly named Cam F. Awesome began the US charge with a super-heavyweight points victory over Jose Gabriel Medina, before Carlos Balderas secured a fourth successive victory by stopping Adrian Javier Martinez Morales in round two of their lightweight contest.

Another knockout sealed the overall victory as welterweight Brian Ceballo ousted debutant Hector Emanuel Ortiz Pastrana in round four with a succession of mammoth right-handed shots, before Steve Nelson dominated Joseph Laboy with a comfortable light-heavyweight points victory.

Although neither team will progress through, the result pushes the US franchise into fifth place in Group A, with the Puerto Ricans slipping down into sixth.

But there was a glimmer of success for the Latin American outfit as flyweight Jeyvier Cintrón Ocasio secured a quota place for what would be his second Olympic Games in Rio next year after a superb points victory over Brent Venegas III in the opening bout of the night.

The contest concluded the three-month long season, with six teams having made it through to the knock-out stages.

The first of two quarter-finals will take place on May 6 and 7, as Azerbaijan Baku Fires host Mexico Guerreros, with 10 weight divisions, plus a possible tie breaker, to be contested over two nights of action, before Italia Thunder will be hosted by the Russian Boxing Team four days later.

The winner of the first match will have the formidable task of facing Group A winners and defending champions Cuba Domodores in the semi-finals, while Astana Arlans Kazakhstan will face the winners of the second match, both of which will be held later in May.
