Arena Group was announced as an official supplier to the Games last December and has now unveiled its plans which will see it install around 22,000 temporary seats as well as camera platforms, wheelchair access platforms, press positions and commentator platforms at the 10 locations.

Using its "clearview system'" Arena Group will install 1,700 extra seats at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, to supplement the existing 2,000 seats for the track cycling events at the Games.

It will also be using the system to try and give spectators the best views of the lawn bowls competition at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre which will also see press, sponsor, security and doping tents erected.

Temporary structures will be installed at the Barry Buddon Shooting Range, the diving venue at the Edinburgh Royal Commonwealth Pool, the Tollcross International Swimming Centre and the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.

VIP seating and temporary grandstands will be provided at the finishing lines of the mountain biking and triathlon competitions taking place at the Cathkin Braes Mountain Bike Trails and Strathclyde Country Park respectively.

The firm has a long history of providing temporary event infrastructures at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre Precinct (SECC) and its team will once again work with the venue and Glasgow 2014 to supply the seats for gymnastics, boxing, judo, netball, wrestling, weightlifting and powerlifting events.

In addition, Arena Group provided 11,000 temporary seats configured into two temporary grandstands for the rugby sevens tournament last year at the Scoutstoun Sports Campus and will be working at the venue again to install temporary structures and seating for the squash and table tennis competitions that will be staged there during the Games.

"We've been collaborating closely with the Glasgow 2014 overlay team to design temporary solutions which make the most of each venue, providing the space and infrastructure they require, without permanent construction," said Dave Withey, sales and marketing director at Arena UK and Europe.

"We have a strong legacy of working within the city and neighbouring Edinburgh, and know many of the venues extremely well, such as the SECC where we have a relationship spanning over 20 years.

"This knowledge and experience has been extremely useful, enabling us to deliver designs quickly and to spec.

"These designs are now almost finalised and we're looking forward to being back in Glasgow to start the installation.

"We're one step closer to helping deliver one of the best Commonwealth Games in history."

Installation times vary for each venue, with the merchandise shop in Glasgow City centre due to be the first project completed around the beginning of June.

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games are due to underway on July 23 with the Opening Ceremony at Celtic Park and run through until August 3.
