December 17 - Arena Group will supply overlay and temporary structures at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games ©Arena GroupArena Group has today been announced as the official supplier of overlay and temporary structures for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Arena Group will provide temporary structures as part of the work being done across Games venues to bolster spectator facilities and will also have exclusive responsibility for temporary seating at the 13 sites being used for the Games.

These temporary measures, known as overlay, will be implemented in and around the venues to meet the demands of the specific event and are designed to increase the comfort, safety and viewing experience of fans attending the Games, officials claimed.

"Getting overlay right at venues is a vital component towards the delivery of a successful Commonwealth Games and we are delighted that Arena Group is joining our sponsor family," said Ty Speer, the Glasgow 2014 deputy chief executive.

"They are a UK company whose experienced team have a proven track record in temporary event overlay at a range of major global sporting and cultural events."

With its global headquarters based in London, Arena Group has decades of experience in providing event overlay and design and has worked with some of the biggest sporting events in the world including the Ryder Cup, the Wimbledon Championships, Formula One Grand Prix and the Superbowl in America.

It has also worked at the previous Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010 and provided overlay and temporary structures across a number of venues during London 2012, including Horse Guards Parade for beach volleyball, The Mall for road cycling and St James Park which hosted marathon events.

As a result, the company has experienced a sizeable growth in its business according to sales and marketing director for Arena UK and Europe Dave Withey.

"The last year has been pivotal in the growth of Arena Group, seeing us become a truly global business," he said.

"Capitalising on the success of our involvement in the London 2012 Olympics we went on to acquire Karls Event Services in the USA - now Arena Americas - and Asia Tents International in Malaysia - now Asia Tents Arena - as well as opening our first division in Saudi Arabia.

"We are extremely proud to continue to build this legacy by supplying and sponsoring the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, a city and indeed country, which we have worked in for many years.

"We believe that our proven track record both here and overseas and our investment into new products - clearview seating and Arcus structure - means that we're ideally placed to give visitors, sponsors and athletes of the Games the best possible spectator experience.

"It is very exciting to be involved in yet another global sporting event right here in the UK which will showcase the strength, skill and world leading standards of the UK event industry."
