ciscoJune 20 - Glasgow 2014 has named Cisco as the Official Network Infrastructure Supporter for next year's Commonwealth Games.

The technology giant will provide 2,300 telephones, more than 450 switches and routers, almost 400 wireless access points, digital media players, load balancers and firewalls to keep the 15,000 volunteers, 1,000 staff, and 6,500 athletes and officials from 71 nations at the Games connected.

As part of the deal, Cisco - which is also a Premier Partner for the Toronto 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games - will also sponsor the England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales teams heading to Glasgow 2014.

"We are delighted to welcome Cisco into the Glasgow 2014 sponsor family," Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said.

"In a high-performance and fast-paced Games environment, it is crucial that information flow is seamless.

"We are delighted to have a company of Cisco's calibre on board to keep Glasgow 2014 networked and connected as we focus on the delivery of the largest multi-sport Games Scotland has ever seen."

"There are fewer than 400 days to go until the start of Glasgow 2014 and it is great to see another sponsorship announcement in Cisco," Michael Cavanagh, chairman of Commonwealth Games Scotland, said.

"Information flow is vital to the participating teams and a successful Games and we very much welcome the appointment of Cisco as the Official Network Infrastructure Supporter for the Games."
