Indian court to frame charges against Kalmadi next month

KalmadiJanuary 10 - A court in India has fixed February 4 as the date for framing charges against former Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games chairman Suresh Kalmadi for allegedly cheating, conspiring and causing a loss of over Rs.90 crore (£10,530,000/$16,896,440/€12,896,100) to the public exchequer in a Games related graft case.

Suresh_Kalmadi_before_arrest_Delhi_April_25_2011April 25 - Suresh Kalmadi, the chairman of last year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, was today arrested by Indian authorities for criminal conspiracy in the awarding of Games contracts, including a £450,000 ($743,000) deal with a London firm over the staging of the Queens Baton relay and a contract with Swiss Timing.
