When Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie won the 10,000 metres at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 his winning margin of victory over Kenyan rival Paul Tergat was only 0.09sec, closer than the winning margin in the men's 100m final. That race was won by American Maurice Greene, who beat Trinidad and Tobago's Ato Boldon by 0.12.

February 13 - A new pin issued by the Nations and Regions team within LOCOG has been spotted. This one is a map of the UK in the London 2012 style with both games and Paralympic Games logos.

We have no information on issue size or reference at the moment and believe this has been issued centrally rather than by one or more of the regions.
