The rifle, pistol shooting and triathlon squads have been unveiled for the Games, which will be contested from July 26 to August 11 and will feature more than 6,500 athletes from 41 nations.

The seven US rifle athletes include Olympic gold medallist Ginny Thrasher, although she will not be competing in the air rifle event in which she earned glory at Rio 2016.

Thrasher will instead shoot in the women's three positions event, alongside Sarah Beard, while Mindy Miles and Ali Weisz compete in the air rifle.

In the men's events, Tim Sherry will shoot in both disciplines, alongside 2016 Olympians Lucas Kozeniesky in air and Michael McPhail in three positions.

Weisz and Sherry, and Miles and Kozeniesky, make up the pairs in the mixed team air rifle.

US athletes for the shooting events were determined based on results of the 2019 spring selection match that took place between March 25 and 30 in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Olympic quota points are available in the Pan American Games shooting events.

There is also a high-quality field in the pistol, with the seven US athletes including four Olympians.

In search of five Olympic quotas, US include three-times Olympian Keith Sanderson, competing in rapid fire pistol, 2016 Olympian Jay Shi competing in air pistol and 2012 Olympians Nick Mowrer and Sandra Uptagrafft competing in men’s air pistol and women’s sport pistol, respectively.

Joining the veterans are two-times Pan American Games participant Nathalia Tobar in both air and sport, Miglena Todorova in air and 19-year-old Jackson Leverett competing alongside Sanderson in rapid fire pistol.

Todorova and Mowrer will team up in the mixed team air event.

The shooting competitions are due to take place between July 27 and August 3 at Las Palmas Air Base.

USA Triathlon, meanwhile, are using the Pan American events to give top-level competition experience to six up and coming stars.

The men’s and women’s individual races are set for August 27, and the first Pan American Games mixed team relay takes place on August 29.

Headlining the women’s roster is Avery Evenson, who earned a silver medal last September at the World University Triathlon Championships in Kalmar, Sweden.

Sophie Chase and Mary Alex England, former cross country and athletics team mates at Stanford University who both compete in the Triathlon World Cup, are also selected.

The men’s team is led by Jason West, the 2018 USA Triathlon Elite National Championships runner-up, alongside team mates Austin Hindman and William Huffman.
