Colombia progressed to the second round of the mixed team recurve at the Archery World Cup in Medellin.

The hosts' team of Ana Marie Rendon and Daniel Felipe Pineda recorded a 6-2 victory over Peru's Pamela Ruth Velasquez Cuadros and Santiago Prado at Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex.

They will now play Japan, who received a bye. 

The mixed team recurve will make its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Rendon was knocked out of the women's individual recurve by team-mate Valentina Acosta Giraldo.

Acosta Giraldo comfortably won 6-0 and will meet China's Wu Jiaxin next.

Elsewhere in the women's competition, Italy's Vanessa Landi set up a tie against Rio 2016 Olympic champion, Chang Hye-jin of South Korea.

She had beaten Venezuela's Mayra Mendez 6-2. 

Slovakia's Alexandra Longova eased past Spain's Celia Castanos 6-0 to book a clash with top seed Kang Chae-young. 

The competition continues tomorrow.
