Sweden and Finland will contest the Men's Floorball World Championships final for the sixth consecutive edition after both countries won their semi-final ties today.

The Swedes survived a huge scare against Switzerland before winning 5-4 after a shoot-out at the O2 Arena in Prague, while Finland defeated hosts Czech Republic 7-2.

It sets-up a familiar showpiece game which has already been contested nine times out of the 11 tournaments held to date.

Sweden have won eight titles with Finland three, including at the last edition in Latvia in 2016 when they beat their Scandinavian rivals after a shoot-out.

Today's beaten semi-finalists are the only other countries to have ever made a final, each doing so once.

Switzerland, who only edged into the last four after being Norway 3-2 in over-time, came close to pulling off a huge upset as they led 4-3 with less than two minutes left on the clock.

Robin Nilsberth gave the Swedes an eighth minute lead but Jan Zaugg levelled in the first quarter.

Nilsberth then added a second before Kim Nilsson gave the Swedes breathing space at 3-1.

The Swiss refused to give in and Luca Graf pulled them back into the contest before Patrick Mendelin's double put them on the verge of a historic success.

It was not to be as Albin Sjogren levelled two minutes from time, and Joel Ruegger and Zaugg then both missed in the shoot-out.

Finland opened up a 3-0 lead before the 40 minute mark with two goals from Joonas Pylsy and a strike from Mikko Leikkanen.

Matej Jendrisak pulled one back for the Czechs but Miko Kailiala and Ville Lastikka then both registered in the 53rd minute to pull the Finns out of sight.

Daniel Sebek added another reply for the hosts but a second from Lastikka and a strike from Sami Johansson completed the scoring.

The final will be played tomorrow with Switzerland facing Czech Republic for bronze.

It will be the sixth time in the last seven tournaments that these two sides have contested third place.

Sweden, also the World Games gold medallists last year, beat the Finns 5-4 in the group stage of the tournament.

They have a 100 per cent record at the event so far.

The semi-finals in the fifth to eighth place play-offs were also played today.

Germany beat Denmark 4-2, with Latvia defeating Norway 6-5 after a shoot-out.

It means Germany will meet Latvia for fifth place tomorrow, with Denmark taking on Norway for seventh.
