India clinched gold in the mixed skeet event as the Asian Shotgun Championships concluded in Kazakhstan's capital Astana.

Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Rashmmi Rathore edged the final against Jiangchi Liu and Jinmei Gao of China on the final day of competition. 

They came through 28-27 in a thrilling gold medal contest at the Eldorado Shooting Club.

The Indians had earlier shot 93 in the qualification stage to qualify for the semi-finals in fifth place.

They were the top performers in the semi-finals, achieving the same score as the final on their way through.

Both gold medallists will be doubly happy with their victory after disappointing displays in their individual events.

Kazakhstan provided a home bronze medal as Vladislav Mukhamediyev and Olga Panarina won the battle for third place in a clash against their compatriots. 

They beat Alexandr Yechshenko and Assem Orynbay 27-24.
