Wei Meng of China has won the women's skeet title at the seventh Asian Shotgun Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana.

Wei, who competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, shot a total of 55 in the final to seal first place at the Eldorado Shooting Club.

The 28-year-old, who agonisingly finished fourth in Rio de Janeiro last summer, is currently ranked fourth in the world and made her dominance over the rest of the field count.

She was followed onto the podium by Thailand's Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit, who posted a score of 54.

Ranked fifth in the world, Jiewchaloemmit finished fifth at Beijing 2008 before failing to advance from the qualification round at London 2012.

She comfortably beat compatriot Rashmi Rathore to third place, after she could only manage a total of 32.

The Championships are due to continue tomorrow with the men's skeet event before action concludes on Sunday (August 13).

Competitors returned to action today following a rest day on Thursday.
