Abdulrahman Al Faihan led a Kuwaiti one-two in the men’s trap event as action continued today at the seventh Asian Shotgun Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana.

The 31-year-old shot 39 for an Asian finals record, while compatriot Talal Alrashidi took the silver with 38 at the Eldorado Shooting Club.

Like all the other Kuwaiti shooters at the Championships, Al Faihan and Alrashidi were competing as independent athletes given that their country is currently suspended from the International Olympic Committee due to Government interference.

India’s Kynan Chenai shot 30 in the final to beat Iran’s Ali Hafezi to the bronze medal.

"I’m happy to have overcome all that and very happy to come out with this result," Chenai told The Indian Express.

Lebanon finished second with 336, while the United Arab Emirates came third with 331.

Action in Astana is due to continue tomorrow with the mixed team trap event.

The Championships are due to conclude on Sunday (August 13).
