The governing body are remaining in the German town of Berchtesgaden but announced in October that they would be relocating to a new premises 150 meters away.

They will take up residence in the Nonntal 10 building, which is newly constructed.

The Executive Board of the FIL agreed unanimously to acquire the ground floor of the building.

"Irreplaceable mementos, gifts from guests and a huge numbers of folders are being carefully packed away as the FIL prepares to move to its new premises," a statement from the governing body said.

The FIL is headed by German President Josef Fendt, a double world champion and an Olympic silver medallist in men's singles luge.

Once moved in, the governing body will use the building to hone their preparations for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games, which will take place in February in South Korea.

Berchtesgaden is near to the Königssee sliding track, one of the premier venues for the sports of luge, bobsleigh and skeleton. 

In October, the FIL said their new home would "have all the space and facilities required to ensure that our employees can continue to provide a professional service for our member associations and partners".
