Tomas Burvall currently leads the men’s World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) World Freestyle and Overall Championships in Basingstoke.

The Swedish athlete has an overall score of 276 at the Championships, following his performances across the disciplines.

The six-day event, concluding on Saturday (July 29), features a full format of overall competition comprising accuracy, discathon, disc golf, distance, double disc caught, freestyle and self caught flight.

Burvall has currently achieved a score of 48 in disc golf, as well as 48 in accuracy and 47 in distance.

He also has a tally of 41 in self caught flight, 50 in discathon and 42 in double disc caught, contributing to his overall score.

Burvall’s fellow Swede Anton Kappling is second in the standings on 259, with Conrad Damon of the United States a further 10 behind in third.

The United States’ Juliana Korver leads the women’s classification on a total of 294.5.

Sweden’s Niloofar Mossavarrahmani occupies second place in the standings on 290.5.

I Chi Lin of Chinese Taipei has 281.5 in third place.

The Freestyle Championship, which for the first time is featuring on a stand-alone basis as well as within the overall format, is due to be held tomorrow and July 29.

Basingstoke was chosen to stage the event ahead of other "very strong bids" from the European, North American and Asian regions, according to the WFDF.

This year’s event in the English town is the 13th edition of the WFDF Overall Championships.
