United World Wrestling (UWW) has called for artists to submit entries for an exhibit which will run alongside next month's World Championships in Paris.

The sport's worldwide governing body has asked for entries in the exhibit, entitled "The Wrestler's Aesthetic", to be submitted by August 4.

Successful entrants will be chosen on August 10 before the artists are notified two days later.

Those who are chosen will see their work showcased during the World Championships at the AccorHotels Arena in the French capital, scheduled to take place from August 21 to 26.

Entrants must be 18 or over and the work must be original.

A limit of three entries has been set per person.

Photo realism, realism, representational, expressionism, surrealism or abstraction are all being accepted.

They can be created in any still medium, including painting, drawing, photography, digital art, prints, collage and graphic design.

The UWW have asked for digital images of the work to be submitted along with a description as part of the first stage of the selection process.

Wrestling and daily life has been chosen as the key theme for the exhibit.

UWW officials have said the submissions must "align with such imagery, as iconic message, social commentary or deeply private statement".

"The exhibition aims to hallmark the variety of ways in which wrestling impacts the world we live in and diversity of wrestlers’ ways of life," the governing body said.

The exhibit will be able to view throughout the 2017 World Championships in Paris, a candidate city for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

Earlier this month, International Olympic Committee (IOC) members unanimously approved to plans to award both the 2024 and 2028 editions of the Games at their Session in Lima on September 13.

The IOC are now working with both Los Angeles and Paris to reach a proposal over who should host which event.
