Eduarda Santos Lisboa and Ana Patricia Silva Ramos retained their women’s title as Brazilian pairs won both finals at the Beach Volleyball Under-21 World Championships in Nanjing.

Adrielson Dos Santos Silva and Renato Andrew Lima de Carvalho won the men’s prize while Santos Lisboa and Silva Ramos reclaimed their crown at a purpose-built stadium in Tangshan in the Chinese city today.

Both pairs had to beat Russian opposition in their respective finals.

Santos Lisboa and Silva Ramos defeated Nadezda Makroguzova and Svetlana Kholomina 21-15, 21-13 in a repeat of last year's final.

"This is the second time we have played them in the final," said Lisboa.

"We were really anxious to defend our title from last year.

"Before the tournament started we expected to meet them in the final and that happened again.

"I'm super happy, all of the tournaments we played together we won gold.

"We have such a good chemistry between us and now we have no words to describe how happy we are."

Milica Mirkovic and Kathryn Plummer of the US took bronze after defeating Italians Gaia Traballi and Ester Maestroni 21-7, 21-19.

A second Brazilian gold medal followed in the men’s competition as Dos Santos Silva and Lima de Carvalho proved too strong for Russia's Aleksandr Kramarenko and Vasilii Ivanov.

The South American pairing edged the first set 22-20 before capturing the title by winning the second, slightly more comfortably, 21-17.

Latvia’s Kristaps Smits and Mihails Samoilovs won the bronze medal by beating Austria's Moritz Fabian Kindl and Marian Klaffinger 21-17, 21-17.
