Brazilian and Russian pairs will contest both the men's and women's finals at the Beach Volleyball Under-21 World Championships in Nanjing.

It comes after representatives of both nations won their respective semi-finals at a purpose-built stadium in Tangshan in the Chinese city today.

Brazilians Adrielson Dos Santos Silva and Renato Andrew Lima de Carvalho defeated Latvia’s Kristaps Smits and Mihails Samoilovs to reach the men's last four.

The South Americans coasted to a 21-15, 21-16 straight-sets win to progress.

Awaiting them in the final are Russia's Aleksandr Kramarenko and Vasilii Ivanov.

They combined to overcome Austria's Moritz Fabian Kindl and Marian Klaffinger 21-11, 21-17.

Russian and Brazilian success also continued in the women's event.

The South Americans' Eduarda Santos Lisboa and Ana Patricia Silva Ramos, the reigning champions, defeated Milica Mirkovic and Kathryn Plummer of the United States 21-19, 21-16.

They will face Russian opposition in the final in the form of Nadezda Makroguzova and Svetlana Kholomina, last year's runners-up.

Italian duo Gaia Traballi and Ester Maestroni will drop into the bronze medal match as they were beaten 24-22, 21-12.

Competition is due to conclude tomorrow with the men's and women's medal matches.
