The Netherlands triumphed in Falsterbo ©FEI

The Netherlands emerged as the winners of the sixth leg of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Nations Cup Jumping Europe Division One League.

They produced a strong display in Falsterbo, Sweden, with their four-member team finishing top of the podium.

Ruben Romp, Aniek Poels, Michel Hendrix and Jur Vrieling put the team in an ideal position, but they were forced to contest a jump off with Germany

World and European team gold medallist Jur Vrieling sealed the victory, with The Netherlands ending with no faults in a time of 46.35.

Germany finished as the runners-up, ending with without any faults but a slower time of 47.80.

The top three was completed by Ireland, who had four faults.

"I was hardly five metres outside the ring after the second round when I was already being told I was in the jump-off and how to ride it,” said Vrieling.

“Ben Schroder said to go inside the wall to the double.

“I just had to listen and work it out as well as I could."

The result sees The Netherlands rise to sixth place in the overall FEI Nations Cup Division One standings, with Italy still leading the way.

The Italian team have 345 points, with Germany and Sweden completing the top three on 325 and 307.5 respectively.
