Norway’s Grace Bullen has risen to fourth in the latest United World Wrestling (UWW) rankings having claimed her first senior European title in May.

The 20-year-old headed into Championships eighth in the rankings, but came through to beat Moldova’s Mariana Cherdivara in the women’s 58 kilogram event.

She followed up the performance by retaining her junior European title for the third straight year in Dormagen, Germany.

The Norwegian now lies behind only Japan’s Kaori Icho, Tunisia’s Marwa Amri and Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan in the welterweight rankings.

Japanese wrestlers continue to dominate the rankings, with Olympic champions Eri Tosaka and Risako Kawai heading the 48kg and 63kg events.

Mayu Mukaida and Sara Dosho of Japan also lead the 55kg and 69kg rankings.

The United States’ Olympic champion Helen Maroulis remains top of the 53kg standings, while China’s Pei Xingru and Canada’s Erica Wiebe are top of 60kg and 75kg leaderboard.

The Tbilisi Grand Prix was the only senior event with a significant impact on the UWW men’s freestyle rankings.

Only senior European silver medalist Alexander Gostiev of Azerbaijan was able to move into the top six in the rankings as a result, with a victory in the Georgian capital pushing him to fourth in the 86kg competition.

He trails Russia’s Abdulrashid Sadulaev and Iran’s Hassan Yazdani Charati, who both won gold medals at Rio 2016, as well as Russia’s Dauren Kurugliev.

Iran’s Olympic champion Hassan Rahimi heads the 57kg standings, with Georgia’s Vladimir Khinchegashvili and Russia’s Soslan Ramonov top of the 61kg and 65kg rankings.

Russia’s Magomed Kurbanaliev and Aniuar Geduev lead the 70kg and 74kg categories, while the United States’ Kyle Snyder and Turkey’s Taha Akgul remain the 97kg and 125kg number ones.
