International Ski Federation officials have visited Pyeongchang to conduct site inspections as the countdown continues to next year’s Winter Olympics.

Freestyle skiing and snowboard officials were present for three days, with an assessment of the Bokwang Phoenix Park among their focuses.

Both disciplines will share the venues at next year’s Games.

“We had very promising meetings,” said Uwe Beier, snowboard race director.

“The most significant work has now been completed and the organisers are getting ready for the final sprint.

“With the successful Olympic test events in the books, we are now looking forward to outstanding Olympic competitions next winter.”

The officials met with key staff from the Bokwang Phoenix Park, as well as Pyeongchang 2018 and the Korean Ski Association.

Olympic Broadcasting Services and course designers also participated in the meeting.

The set-up for television was one of the key aspects discussed at the meeting, while inspections, the courses and installations were also checked.

“Every square meter is being used.

“We had very fruitful meetings with the Korean Ski Association, Olympic Broadcasting Services and the Olympic Results and Information Services.

“These groups along with the Pyeongchang 2018 Organising Committee are key to having successful Games.”

The inspection came after the tests of the Olympic results information dervice, which were held from July 3 to 8.

The Winter Olympics will take place from February 9 to 25 next year.
