The Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA) celebrated Olympic Day with three days of events in Mbabane.

A total of 1,843 people took part at the Prince of Wales Stadium and the Olympafrica Centre in the country's capital city.

They participated in various Olympic sports including volleyball, boxing, taekwondo and handball.

Cricket, a sport not on the Olympic programme, was also contested in the African nation.

Olympic Day falls each year on June 23 but National Olympic Committees around the world do not necessarily celebrate on that date, with events often lasting for longer than just a single day.

It commemorates the founding of the international Olympic Movement by Pierre de Coubertin in 1894.

The aim of the day is to spread the ideas of the Olympic Movement and promote participation in sport around the world.

Swaziland has participated at 11 Olympic Games since Munich 1972 but are yet to win a medal.

The country sent a two-strong team of sprinters to Rio 2016.

Phumlile Ndzinisa participated in the heats of the women's 100 metres and Sibusiso Matsenjwa in the men's 200m.
