The Estonian Wrestling Federation (EWF) are taking part in a scheme to help develop the sport across the country.

Supported by the Olympic Solidarity Commission, the governing body have got involved with the Development of the National Sport System Programme.

The decision to participate came after EWF bosses identified issues they wanted to resolve.

These included getting more schoolboys to continue in wrestling as they get older and improving the experience levels of national coaches and referees.

As part of the project, Heiki Nabi, who won silver in the men’s 120 kilogram Greco-Roman competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games, will be helping with campaigns to get more young people involved in wrestling.

Alongside Nabi, Epp Mae, the 2015 Estonian Sportswoman of the Year, is also set to take part in the scheme to promote the sport.

A series of training courses for coaches and demonstrations at schools in Estonia are part of the plans as well.

To assist the EWF, two mats have been donated by United World Wrestling.
