Chou Tien Chen and Tzu Wei Wang both delighted their home crowd today after reaching the final of the men’s singles event at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Chinese Taipei Open.

Chou, the tournament's top seed, recovered from falling a set down to defeat Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia at the Taipei Arena.

Lee, who won singles bronze at last year's World Junior Championships in Bilbao, moved into the lead after claiming the opening set 15-21.

However, Chou's superiority saw him eventually seal his progression after taking the second and third sets 21-10, 21-12 to win inside 51 minutes.

The defending champion will now meet Tzu in tomorrow's gold medal match, who is seeded second on home soil.

Tzu claimed a 21-18, 21-18 straight sets win over South Korean sixth seed Jeon Hyeok Jin.

In the women’s singles, Saena Kawakami sealed her place in tomorrow's final after winning an all-Japanese semi-final against Natsumi Shimoda.

Currently ranked 58 in the world, Kawakami defeated her compatriot 21-8, 21-15.

Awaiting her in the final will be third seed Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia.

The 17-year-old defeated unseeded Haruko Suzuki of Japan 21-16, 21-17.

It will be the world number 44's second final appearance in a BWF Grand Prix Gold event following her runners-up finish at the Indonesian Masters last year.
