The United States secured two of the three gold medals on offer as the World Flying Disc Federation World Championships of Beach Ultimate concluded in Royan in France today.

The American team took home both the men's and mixed titles, while Russia denied the US a clean sweep by winning the women's crown.

Russia won the first gold medal on the last day of the competition as they edged the US 11-10 in a thrilling women's final.

Olga Podolskaia was the star performer for the Russian side as she scored three and chipped in with two assists.

Aleksandra Pustovaia and Elizaveta Vornokova got on the scoresheet with two apiece as Russia ousted their American opponents by the narrowest of margins to finish at the summit of the podium.

The US managed to bounce back from the disappointing defeat by Russia as their men's team Britain to clinch the gold medal.

It proved to be another closely-fought final as the US prevailed by virtue of being on the right side of an 11-8 scoreline.

Cassidy Rasmussen scored four times for the Americans in a commanding individual display, while Tyler De Girolamo bagged two.

Ashley Yeo matched the individual haul of Rasmussen but his effort proved to be in vain as the British side fell short of their American opponents.

The US then completed a successful final day of the event in Royan by claiming the mixed crown with a 12-10 success over North American rivals Canada.
