Three-time Olympic medallist Im Dong-hyun will take on compatriot Kim Woo-jin for the individual men's recurve gold medal after the South Korean duo won their semi-finals at the Archery World Cup in Salt Lake City.

Im overcame Marcus D'Almeida of Brazil 7-3 in his semi-final, while team-mate Kim, a member of the South Korean team which claimed the Olympic title at Rio 2016, beat Wei Chun-Heng of Chinese Taipei 6-2.

The two will face off for the fourth time in international competition since 2010 when they compete for gold at the Easton Salt Lake Archery Centre on Sunday (June 25).

"Woojin has gotten a lot of experience during the past few years, he’s in good form and he’s a strong opponent," said Im.

"But I also have experience and I’m doing well, feeling good.

"I think it will be 50/50."

Olympic champion Chang Hye-jin safely progressed to the final of the women's recurve event, where she will meet Chinese Taipei's Tan Ya-Ting.

Chang emerged victorious from her all South Korean semi-final encounter with Choi Misun as she cruised to a 6-2 victory.

Tan had a much more difficult path to the gold medal match, needing a shoot off to edge past Spanish archer Alicia Marin 6-5.

"I’ll probably need more time to assimilate the fact that I’m going for bronze, but all I’m sure is that I will try to enjoy my first-ever medal match no matter who I’m shooting against," said Marin.

"The result is something extra."

World number two Sarah Sonnichsen of Denmark will go up against Spain's Andrea Marcos in the women's compound final after she ousted South Korea's Song Yun-soo 140-135.

There was a surprise result in the other semi-final as world number one Sara Lopez of Colombia was beaten 139-138 by Marcos.

Denmark will also get the chance to secure the men's compound title as Stephan Hansen overcame Bridger Deaton of the United States 145-143 in his semi-final.

Dutchman Mike Schloesser awaits for Hansen in the final after he beat Rodolfo Gonzalez of Mexico 147-138.
