New Zealand are set to claim their fourth Women’s World Rugby Sevens Series title as the season’s final stage comes to Clermont-Ferrand in France.

The Kiwis sit 14 points above rivals Australia and Canada as they head to the Stade Gabriel Montpied, with action due to take place tomorrow and on Sunday (June 25).

So far, the Black Ferns have won four of the previous five stages this season, with only the second leg in Sydney slipping away from their grasp.

Reaching the semi-finals will be enough for the New Zealanders, who were beaten to gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by Australia, to claim the overall crown.

“It would be a massive achievement for us, coming off last year where we finished behind Australia and then came second to them in that Olympic final,” said Tyla Nathan Wong, the Black Ferns’ captain for the weekend.

“It's good to get a leg up this series and we're looking forward to playing well and hopefully lifting that title.”

They will be joined in Group A by the United States, Ireland and Japan.

Group B features Canada, the Rio 2016 bronze medallists, England, Russia and Brazil.

Completing the line-up of teams are Australia, host nation France, Fiji and Spain.
