Anders Larsson has been re-elected as chairman of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.

The official was returned to the role unopposed at the governing body's general meeting at the Scandic Hotel Hasselbacken in Stockholm.

He will now serve another two-year term.

Larsson's re-election comes with Swedish ice hockey on a high, after their men's team won the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship title last month.

Sweden lost two of their opening three group matches at the tournament, which was co-hosted by German city Cologne and French capital Paris.

They recovered in fine fashion, however, eventually beating Canada via a shoot-out in the final at Cologne's Lanxess Arena.

It meant Sweden won a 10th world title and their first since 2013.

"I am pleased with the great trust I had to continue to lead the federation and Swedish ice hockey for another two years," said Larsson.

"Ice hockey engages so many and stands for so much good in our society.

"History has taught us that we are strongest in Swedish ice hockey when we work together."

Larsson, a former referee, was a Board member of the governing body before his election as chairman in 2015.

He was chairman of the Organising Committee for the 2015 IIHF Women’s World Championship, which was staged in Malmö.
