Top seed Gordon Reid of Britain enjoyed a straight sets first round victory at the 2017 Open de France in Paris.

Reid was faced with the challenge of Spain’s Daniel Caverzaschi in his opening match of the wheelchair tennis tournament, with the Briton easing to a 6-3, 6-3 win.

He will now face the challenge of Gaetan Menguy, after he won an all-French tie with Geoffroy Schivi, 6-1, 6-0.

Another French clash saw fourth seed Nicolas Peifer secure a dominant 6-0, 6-0 success against Didier Guiard.

Peifer will take on Nico Langmann in the second round, with the Austrian battling to a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 win against Stefanos Diamantis of Greece.

Quad singles competition began with Sweden's Anders Hard earning a three set win against the United States' Greg Hasterok.

Hard claimed a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 victory.

He will now face the tough task of facing David Wagner, with the American top seed enjoying a bye through the first round.

Britain's Andy Lapthorne will also begin the competition in the second round, where he will face Petter Edstrom.

The Swedish player saw off the challenge of Indian wildcard Harry Boniface Prabhu, 6-0, 6-0.

Competition comes just weeks before the second Grand Slam of the season, with wheelchair tennis action on the grass at Wimbledon scheduled for July 13 to 16.

The event is an International Tennis Federation Super Series competition.
