Cuba enjoyed a dominant opening day of men's finals at the AMBC American Confederation Boxing Championships as they claimed all four gold medals on offer in Tegucigalpa.

Arlen Lopez got the Cuban team off to the best possible start at the Coliseum Nacional de Ingenieros in the Honduran capital as the reigning Olympic middleweight champion outclassed Jorge Vivas of Colombia.

Lopez came into the competition as the overwhelming favourite following his triumph at last year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and he did not disappoint in the final, sweeping aside Vivas by unanimous decision.

Current world lightweight champion Lázaro Álvarez earned Cuba's second title of the day as he overcame American Delante Johnson.

The 26-year-old, the Olympic bronze medallist in the category at Rio 2016, did not have it all his own way but was able to prevail by virtue of a 4-1 win.

Olympic gold medallist Julio César La Cruz, who has been the dominant force in the men's light heavyweight category in recent years, also clinched gold as he sealed the title with a comprehensive victory against Ecuador's Carlos Mina.

The Cuban star, a three-time world champion and double Pan American Games gold medallist, topped the podium in unanimous fashion as he controlled proceedings throughout his bout with the Ecuadorian fighter.

Cuba's other triumph came in the welterweight division, with Roniel Iglesias ousting Quinton Randall of the United States.

Iglesias demonstrated his class throughout the contest and was eventually awarded the fight on all five of the judges' scorecards.

The event in Tegucigalpa concludes tomorrow, where the final set of gold medals will be on offer.
