Marilyn Little has taken the early lead at the Luhmuhlen Horse Trials after the dressage test today.

Onboard RF Scandalous, the United States rider completed the opening element of the three-day competition with a score of 38.00 points.

This has put her 0.70 ahead of Great Britain’s Nicola Wilson and her horse Bulana.

Another Briton, Oliver Townsend, who is riding Black Tie, sits in third place with a score of 43.00.

Reflecting on her work, Little said she is “incredibly lucky” to have the horse she has.

“It’s my second time here in Luhmuhlen and I am very happy to be here with Scandalous.

She is clever, brave and extremely careful.”

Tomorrow sees more dressage before the cross-country section of the competition on Saturday (June 17).

The jumping element rounds proceedings off on Saturday (June 17).
