The Greenwich Jamaican Jam, due to take place on Saturday (June 10) at the Riverside Yacht club on the Caribbean island, will include local food, music and dancing, poetry and storytelling in honour of the team.

A silent auction will also be held. 

Organisers include Devon Harris, a member of the original Jamaican bobsleigh team which participated at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary. 

Greenwich Jamaica Jams were also held in 2015 and 2016.

Jamaica launched their bobsleigh programme in 1987 - powered by the country's sprinting pedigree - and competed at the Winter Olympics in Calgary the following year.

Their team failed to finish in the four-man event, but were the inspiration for the iconic 1993 Hollywood film Cool Runnings.

The team's participation at Sochi 2014 was their first appearance in the Olympics in 12 years.

Winston Watt and Marvin Dixon finished 29th in the two-man event.

A Jamaican women's team driven by Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian is now hoping to qualify for next year's Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

They finished with a bronze medal in the North American Cup at Lake Placid in January, only 0.17 seconds off the winners Nicole Vogt and Bonnie Kilis of United States.
