The season ending Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour Finals will remain in London until 2020, with the event also securing the Nitto Denko Corporation as title sponsor.

ATP executive chairman and President Chris Kermode made the announcements at The Shard in London, with the city extending its hosting of the major event at the O2 Arena.

London first staged the competition in 2009 and the ATP have now agreed a two-year extension to the existing contract.

"We're delighted to extend our stay in London and to have Nitto come on Board as title sponsor over the next four years," said Kermode.

"It's fantastic news to have such an ambitious and innovative company partner with our season-ending showcase in what is unquestionably one of the most exciting times in men's professional tennis in recent memory.

"We look forward to a successful partnership and to the continued growth of our season finale in London."

Nitto has now become the title sponsor of the event, with the Japanese materials manufacturer set to celebrate their 100th anniversary next year.

The ATP claim the sponsorship of one of Japan's leading innovation companies, who supply materials to electronics, automobiles, ecology and life science, will bring increased business and boost the event's brand.

The season-ending tournament features the top eight men's players of the season, as well as a doubles competition.

World number one Sir Andy Murray claimed the title for the first time last year, with the Briton beating Serbia's Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4 in the final.

"The crowds throughout the week for both the singles and doubles are second to none, and that makes this one of the most special events for the players," said Murray.

"It's an amazing atmosphere and a great tournament to cap off the year."

The indoor tournament attracts around 250,000 spectators a year and has a global television viewership of more than 100 million.

This year's event will take place from November 12 to 19.
