Presentations from Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022 regarding progress for the next two editions of the Winter Paralympic Games were among the key agenda items at the World Para Alpine Skiing and World Para Snowboard sport forum in Kranjska Gora.

Members of the respective Organising Committees for the events attended the event in the Slovenian resort this week and updated members of the two governing bodies on their preparations.

"The presentations from both Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022 also raised the excitement levels for what I am sure will be excellent Paralympic Winter Games in the years to come," Dimitrije Lazarovski, head of World Para Snow Sports, said.

Over 80 delegates were in attendance at the forum, where post-event reviews were given by the Organising Committees of this year's World Championships in the Alpine skiing and snowboard disciplines.

The World Para Alpine Skiing Championships took place in Tarvisio in Italy from January 22 to 31, while the snowboard event was held from February 1 to 7.

Lazarovski claimed the two presentations were "well received and some key learning points will be taken forward to the next major Championships".

Attendees at the forum also had the chance to discuss and share ideas for the further development of both sports, update the rules and regulations and look at ways to improve each sport’s relevant competition schedules.

Following the conclusion of the meetings of the committees within the organisations, participants were given a tour of the newly-built indoor and outdoor training facilities for Nordic skiing and ski jumping at the Sport Centre Planica.

"The sport forum for both Alpine skiing and snowboard provided an ideal opportunity for everyone to have their say on the current state of both sports and what measures can be taken to take things forward," said Lazarovski.

“In recent years both sports have enjoyed great progress and whilst planning for the future it is essential to hear from the sports community and listen to their thoughts for what is working well and what improvements can be made.

“After successful World Championships earlier this year, the presentations from both Tarvisio and Big White were well received and some key learning points will be taken forward to the next major Championships.

"I’d like to place on record my thanks to both Organising Committees for doing such a great job.

“On behalf of both sports and all those who attended I would like to thank the National Paralympic Committee of Slovenia for their great organisation of the event and their wonderful hospitality.”
