Britain's Gordon Reid claimed a straight sets victory over France's Nicolas Peifer to secure the men's singles title at the Japan Open in Iizuka.

The final clash would prove an even affair during the opening set, with neither player able to make a decisive breakthrough at the Chikuho Heights Tennis Courts.

The set eventually went to a tiebreak, with Reid coming through to take the opener and gain control of the final at the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour event.

Reid was able to press home his advantage in the second set, achieving a break of serve against Peifer to move closer to victory.

The tournament's second seed continued to pull away to seal a 7-6, 6-1 success.

The women's final saw a clash of the top two seeds, with Japan's Yui Kamiji and the Netherlands’ Diede De Groot going head-to-head.

Kamiji produced an impressive display in front of a home crowd, winning the opening set of the contest 6-2.

De Groot was unable to mount a comeback in the second set, with Kamiji remaining in charge of the match.

The Japanese star sealed a 6-2, 6-2 win to take the title for the fifth straight year.
