The seminar drew to a close yesterday, with a series of workshops and presentations given to National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

It was held jointly with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Solidarity Forum, who presented the objectives, budgets and programmes established for their 2017 to 2020 plan.

Kocijančič claimed the seminar was useful in helping NOCs to progress, while he also congratulated the Macedonian Olympic Committee on their 25th anniversary celebrations.

"It has been an excellent and productive few days here in Skopje, with progress made in many different areas,"said Kocijančič.

"I would like to extend my gratitude to our friends in Skopje who have been wonderful hosts, and once again congratulate the FYR of Macedonia NOC on their 25th anniversary celebrations.

"The EOC have lots to look forward to in the coming months and years, and we will continue to work hard to ensure our ongoing success.

"I would also like to thank all the NOCs for their hard work and contributions and the Olympic Solidarity Commission, who do an excellent job in supporting NOCs."

One of the major focuses of the seminar was the evolution of digital communication in sport and how NOCs can find new ways to increase their relevance and visibility online.

The Olympic Channel were also present to propose strategies to help appeal to young people, providing NOCs with social media and sports data that they can use to help tailor communications.

Presentations were also given to the 50 NOCs regarding upcoming Games, including the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, Tokyo 2020 and the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The 2017 Games of the Small States of Europe in San Marino and this summer's European Youth Olympics Festival (EYOF) in Győr in Hungary were also discussed.

The flame lighting ceremony for the EYOF will take place on May 23 in Rome.

There was also a key progress update from the Minsk 2019 European Games, where the sports, venues and Organising Committee all being unveiled.

It was also announced that next year's EOC Seminar will be held in Serbia.

Slovenia's Kocijančič will stand to replace Ireland's Patrick Hickey as EOC President on a permanent basis.

Hickey stepped aside from his sporting roles after being arrested at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and charged with ticketing offences.

He denies all the charges against him and was allowed to leave Brazil for medical reasons.

Hickey's latest four-year term is due come to an end at the EOC's General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Zagreb on November 24 and 25.
