The International Floorball Federation (IFF) have stated that one failed drug test was reported in the sport during 2016.

Spanish player Juan Marcos Blake Otero was given a nine-month ban from the sport in relation to a test carried out on February 4 last year.

He tested positive for Carboxy-Tetrahydrocannabinol, the active agent in cannabis, at a World Floorball Championship qualifier.

The IFF state the positive was the only one discovered, out of a total of 365.

A total of 65 tests were carried out at IFF events, including the men’s Floorball World Championships and women’s under 19 World Championships.

There were also 32 out of competition tests, with six testing for erythropoiesis stimulating agents such as erythropoietin.

Another six tested for growth hormones.

IFF member association and National Anti-Doping Agencies (NADOs) reported that 300 tests were carried out at national level during 2016.

There were 159 in competition tests at national level, while 141 out of competition controls were conducted.

This represented a rise of 148 and 104 respectively from 2015.

Finland reportedly carried out the most tests, with 55 in and 69 out of competition.

Sweden conducted 86 tests, followed by Norway on 44 and the Czech Republic on 23.

A total of 12 were carried out by Switzerland, while Latvia and The Netherlands did four, and Hungary three.
