USA Judo generated $217,543 (£169,000/€200,000) in revenue during the first quarter of this year, the organisation's financial figures have revealed.

However, the governing body have warned that they would not be able to sustain that throughout the rest of 2017.

Funds from the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) provided the largest revenue stream for USA Judo in the first quarter, which ran from January to March.

The USOC contributed $227,421 (£176,000/€208,000) of the total revenue of $625,807 (£486,000/€573,000).

The organisation recorded expenses of $408,807 (£317,000/€374,000) for the same period.

USA Judo have released both their profit and loss for the first quarter, as well as their budget for 2017.

Their revenue budget for this year is nearly $1.9 million (£1.5 million/€1.7 million) and they are predicting a surplus of at least $21,000 (£16,000/€19,000).

They claim the move shows "proactive transparency to the membership".

"We are pleased that the USA Judo Audit Committee and Board are supportive of posting our financial information on the USA Judo website," chief executive Keith Bryant said.

“As we continue to earn the trust of the USA Judo community through transparent activities, we have heard the frequent feedback from the membership that transparency of finances would be appreciated.

"While quarter one shows a net revenue of $217,543, it is important to not get overly excited as historically finances have been stronger in quarter one and quarter two than in quarter three and quarter four due to the summer months and holiday season declines in member growth and participation.

"We will continue to strategically allocate funds to support athlete and high performance initiatives, marketing and promotion of judo, building reserves and repaying the debt owed to the USA Judo Foundation.”
