New Zealand's Sir Mark Todd is eyeing a fifth title at the Badminton Horse Trials with this year's event in English county Gloucestershire due to begin tomorrow.

The 61-year-old, winner of individual eventing gold at the Los Angeles 1984 and Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, has already claimed victories at Badminton Estate in 1980, 1994, 1996 and 2011.

He will be riding Leonidas II and NZB Campino this time round and is confident of performing strongly in the latest event on the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Classics calendar.

"With horses like Leonidas II and Campino, you've always got a really good chance of being in the money at these top events," Todd told Stuff.co.nz.

"They both seem to be on very good form at the moment.

"Touch wood, they all stay fit and sound and we can maybe pick up another big one."

Germany’s Michael Jung and France’s Astier Nicolas, the respective gold and silver medallists at the Rio 2016 Olympics, also feature in the field for the world's premier eventing showpiece.

Jung is aiming to defend the crown he won last year on La Biosethique Sam FBW.

Other previous winners on the 85-strong entry list include Australia's Paul Tapner, Andrew Hoy and Sam Griffiths, and Great Britain's Pippa Funnell and Oliver Townend.

Competition is scheduled to begin tomorrow with the first of two days of dressage action.

The cross-country phase is due to take place on Saturday (May 6) and will be followed by show jumping on Sunday (May 7).

Equestrian fans will be able to watch the action unfold on FEI TV, which has today been re-launched with a new look and improved functionalities.

It is claimed users are now able to watch top equestrian competition action anytime, anywhere, both live and on replay.

This follows the signing of a partnership between the FEI and NeuLion, a leading global provider of digital live and on-demand sports content, aimed at bringing a fully re-designed user experience online at www.fei.tv and on mobile through the new FEI TV app.

"We're very happy to be re-launching FEI TV, the 'go to' television destination for fans of equestrian sport, and now viewers will be also able to watch everything wherever and whenever it's convenient," FEI marketing director Ralph Straus said.

"NeuLion are industry leaders in this field and deliver the quality service that our audiences and fans deserve, so we're excited to be partnering with them, and further enhance our product offering."

As well as broadcasting live competition action from around 100 events annually across the globe, FEI TV offers a range of additional competition coverage, interviews and features, presenting equestrian stories from around the globe, exclusive behind-the-scenes access, plus on-demand coverage.

An extensive library of archive material is also due to be made available in the coming months.

NeuLion provides online broadcasting solutions to many other sporting operations including the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL) and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The newly-designed FEI TV is powered by the NeuLion Digital Platform, a complete, fully-managed digital video platform delivering content worldwide in the highest quality in up to 4K Ultra HD.

"It's great to be working with FEI TV as we continue our company’s expansion in Europe," NeuLion chief executive Roy Reichbach said.

"Equestrian is a new sport for us, and to have FEI TV join our growing list of European customers, which includes EFL (English Football League) Digital, Eleven Sports Network and others, is very exciting."
