Kimberley Bos' preparations for next year's Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang have been given a boost after her funding status was upgraded by her National Olympic Committee.

The Dutch skeleton slider has been elevated to "A" status by the Dutch Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF), their highest funding level.

It means the 23-year-old, third at the final International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup event of the season in Pyeongchang in March, will receive more money from the NOC*NSF.

The news will allow Bos, who also works as a physiotherapist, to concentrate solely on her skeleton career in the build-up to the Winter Olympics in South Korea.

She finished 14th overall in the World Cup this year but her bronze medal in the 2018 Winter Olympic host region represented the first time a Dutch athlete had finished on the podium on the IBSF circuit.

Bos' performance in the South Korean resort was voted as the "Sliding Moment of the Season" by fans in an online poll, conducted on the IBSF's Facebook page.

The Dutchwoman comfortably topped the list as she received 159 votes.

Elisabeth Vathje of Canada was second on 34 votes, with team-mate Mirela Rahneva third on 18.

Bos will be hoping the extra funding from the NOC*NSF will help her achieve success at Pyeongchang 2018, which is due to run from February 9 to 25.

Bobsleigh and skeleton events will take place at the Alpensia Sliding Center.

The Netherlands have never won a medal of any colour in bobsleigh or skeleton.
