This year’s Men’s Water Polo World League Super Final line-up has been confirmed following today’s action at the International Swimming Federation (FINA) World League Intercontinental Tournament in Gold Coast.

Australia, United States, Kazakhstan and Japan have earned themselves spots at June’s tournament in Russia after the latest results from the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

The hosts had to come from 5-2 down to earn a 12-8 win victory over the US.

Joe Kayes was the star for the Australians as he found the net four times while team-mate Jarrod Gilchrist also bagged a hat-trick.

Afterwards, their coach Elvis Fatovic said he was delighted with the performance, but expects the potential meeting between the two teams in Sunday’s (April 30) final to be a different matter.

“We controlled the game well in the second half, but if the US had scored one more goal in the beginning, they would have finished out the game with the win.

“We know both teams are so new, they both still have misunderstandings in the game, that is normal.”

Despite the loss, the US are still assured of a top four place.

In today’s other matches, Kazakhstan managed to record a 15-8 victory over New Zealand despite having Murat Shakenov expelled on three majors before half-time.

Japan defeated China 20-6 in their encounter, with Seiya Adachi scoring six goals.

Along with Russia, Serbia, Croatia and Italy have already qualified for the Super Final which will be held in Ruza between June 20 and 25.
